Police Arrest 38 Year –Old Tricycle Operator For Theft, fraud

The Nigeria Police Kano command has arrested a 38 years-old commercial tricycle operator, Muhammad Muhammad, a resident of Kabuga quarters for alleged theft of properties of his passengers and indulging in criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The spokesman, Kano command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed that the suspect is in police custody.
He said “ the police has succeeded in arresting a notorious tricycle operator with registration number GWL 6543, who specializes in the criminal act of theft by dispossessing citizens of their hard- earned properties. He was arrested by police officers attached to Naibawa division of the command led by CSP Sanusi Jidda.
The suspect in an exclusive interview with this reporter on Tuesday morning at Naibawa police station confirmed his involvement in the crime. He said the allegations levied against him were true.
Muhammad said “ I carefully select and pick up passengers with goods, and along the way I will pretend that my tricycle has developed mechanical fault, I will beg the passenger to help me push, when they go down from the tricycle to help me push, I will zoom off with their properties.”
“I was arrested by the police on Sunday evening, the devil used me I regret my actions and I advised those doing the same to repent,” Muhammad said.
One of the victims of Muhammad’s alleged criminal activities, Hadiza Hasiru, 28 years- old resident of Gadan Tamburawa quarters alleged that the suspect on a fateful day around 7:pm ferried her and her mother in his tricycle from Kwari textile market to Gadan Tamburawa.
“On our way , when we got toDangi underpass, along Zaria road, he pretended that his tricycle had developed fault, me and my mother came down and we tried to push the tricycle, he just zoomed off.
“ My mother started crying and shouting a tricycle has run away with our goods, then we reported the matter to the nearest police station and gave them his tricycle registration number, because my mother was smart enough to have memorised the number. This helped and few days later, last Monday precisely, the police called to inform us that he has been arrested.”
Hadiza allaged that the suspect zoomed away with textile materials, beverages, mosquitoes coil. Only the textiles have been recovered; the beverages have been converted to personal use by the suspect, Hadiza said.
The Kano police command spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa told this newspaper that police investigations have been concluded, stating that the suspect will be charged to court.
