The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and handed over a Chadian national wanted in connection with a murder case in N’Djamena, Chad, after she was traced to Kano State.
The suspect, identified as Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, was apprehended by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, following intelligence-led efforts to locate her in Nigeria.
Abdoulaye was declared wanted by Chadian authorities over the alleged torture and murder of Nazik Mahamat Saleh on May 3, 2026.
The Court of Appeal in N’Djamena had on June 22, 2026, issued an international warrant for the arrest of Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar, over the incident.
According to the police, Abdoulaye fled Chad after the alleged offence and entered Nigeria, where she was subsequently located in Railway Quarters, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
She was arrested on August 5 following coordinated intelligence operations by INTERPOL NCB Abuja.
The suspect was later repatriated to N’Djamena on August 14 through Lomé, Togo, under existing bilateral police cooperation arrangements between Nigeria and Chad.
The police said the transfer was coordinated by INTERPOL NCB Abuja and its counterpart in N’Djamena to enable the suspect to face judicial proceedings in Chad.
The Force also said Abdoulaye was being linked to narcotics trafficking activities in Chad.
Commending the operation, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, praised the INTERPOL NCB Abuja team for what he described as professionalism, diligence and effective collaboration with their Chadian counterparts.
Disu said the successful operation demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to preventing criminal suspects from escaping justice by crossing international borders.
The Force said it would continue to utilise international policing mechanisms and partnerships to locate wanted persons, dismantle cross-border criminal operations and prevent Nigeria from becoming a refuge for fugitives wanted for serious offences.
