Hardship: Knocks as reps donate N705m to Tinubu

Nigerians have continued to berate members of the House of Representatives as they donated a cheque of N705 million to President Bola Tinubu to support his programme for Nigeria’s vulnerable population.
The leaders of the House, led by Speaker Tajuddeen Abass, had on Monday presented the cheque to the president
According to Abbas, the donation was made possible through members contributing 50 percent of their salaries since July 2024.
However, some Nigerians slammed the lawmakers for the act, stressing that they could have directly impacted the society by disbursing the money to their constituents.
“The people charged with representing people are sending out constituency funds to the presidency to help them look out for people. Chineke nnam,” Accordking Andrew wrote on Facebook
Maxwell Chukwuemeka wrote, “If not for poolishness and wawanchi why not give their share to the constituents?”
“Donating to President? Is the President now a vulnerable Nigerian?” David Ochiama asked.
Lawrence Madojemu said, “Just when you think you’ve seen it all, someone, upon whom the hopes of a whole senatorial district comprised of millions of people would be said to have thought about such shallow nonsense and get paid humorously for it. Nothing could be more tragic!”
“They should have given back this money to their various constituencies, rather than this eye service,” Chinedu Dim suggested.
Ogheneoseme Ogedegbe said, “The people who are ‘supposedly’ close to the vulnerable people are donating and giving money to a president who resides only in Abuja to give to vulnerable people.
If this is not madness, tell me what it is.
