Help tackle high cost of maize, other poultry inputs, farms beg FG

The Lagos State chapter of the Poultry Association of Nigeria has restated its commitment to boost production by assisting embattled farmers.
The group also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle insecurity issues, high cost of maize and other poultry inputs to help the sector
“We are hopeful for a great year for the Nigerian poultry sector. We hope to do better this year, its chairman, Mr Godwin Egbebe, on Wednesday in Lagos.
“As an association we want to reach out to our members across the state that made losses last year.
“We want to help poultry farmers that experienced huge setbacks during the bird flu outbreak.
“We will provide materials for affected farmers to fumigate their farms and cages to forestall an outbreak this year.
“Our plan this year is basically to help poultry farmers that have been run out of business due to various challenges,’’ Egbebe added.

“We still appeal to the government to help tackle insecurity issues, high cost of maize and other poultry inputs to help the sector,’’ he said.
Egbebe called on government to assist the sector to surmount its inherent challenges.
“We will not give up as a sector, but will keep liaising with relevant government agencies to help local poultry farmers.
