Umrah: Buhari departs Madinah for Makkah via Jeddah

Muhammadu Buhari has departed Madinah for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in continuation of his eight-day official visit to the Kingdom.

While in Madinah, the President visited historic religious places including an extensive tour of the International Fair and Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and Islamic Civilisation in the city.

FEC approves N495m for installation of railway scanners

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of N495 million for the installation of scanners in all the railway stations across the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the FEC meeting was presided over by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

Several trapped as seven storey building collapses in Banana Island

A seven-storey building has collapsed at First Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos Territorial Coordinator National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.

NASS leadership positions will be zoned after Ramadan, says Senate Spokesman

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has described as untrue, insinuations that both the National Working Committee and National Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress have zoned the leadership positions for the 10th National Assembly.

Basiru said the zoning arrangements would be perfected after the ongoing Ramadan fast.

Female Rep, Miriam Onuoha joins Speakership race

Rep. Miriam Onuoha (APC-Imo) has declared interest to contest for the Speaker of House of Representatives of the 10th National Assembly ahead of its official inauguration in June.

Onuoha called for the declaration of state of emergency on the involvement of women in leadership positions, adding that Nigeria’s political space was male-dominated.

Soldier Allegedly Stabs Man In Ondo

A soldier attached to the 32 Artillery Brigade Owena Barracks Akure, Ondo state has been arrested by the state police command for allegedly stabbing one Bunmi Omodele in Akure , the state capital.

At press time,there was no clue on why the Soldier took such action

The soldier identified as Tope Kazeem was alleged to have stabbed the victim severally at the back and other parts of the body with knife.

Rashford out for few games with muscle injury

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will miss Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final first-leg clash with Sevilla.

This was after the 25-year-old was ruled out for “a few games” with a muscle injury he picked up against Everton on Saturday.

Declare Kano guber election inconclusive, APC urges tribunal

The All Progressives Congress, (APC) has asked the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to declare the March 18 election in the state inconclusive.
The party is challenging the declaration of Alhaji Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP)as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

ECOWAS calls on FG to take action on kidnap of 80 kids in Zamfara

The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), has called on the Nigerian authorities to promptly hunt down the kidnappers of 80 children in Zamfara State, North West Nigeria and bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.

The Directorate of Communication, ECOWAS Commission, in a statement roundly condemns the dastardly terrorist act on innocent children and calls for their immediate and unconditional release.

Why Arsenal versus Chelsea league game rescheduled

Arsenal’s home game against Chelsea has been postponed to May 2 due to policing issues, the Premier League in England said on Tuesday.

The game was earlier scheduled to be played on April 29 at the Emirates Stadium.
