
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command acting on credible intelligence, has stormed criminals’ hideouts in Gidan Dogo where suspected criminals and bandits were camping as well as Kweti Forest in Kaduna State at the fringe of the FCT, notorious for bandits’ hideout and arrested the suspects.
The Command, in a statement yesterday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that a combination of Special Forces of the Guards Brigade, DSS, and hunters stormed the locations on Friday and arrested the suspects.
Adeh disclosed that the four suspects arrested included Yahaya Abubakar, aged 25 years and hails from Mpape, Abuja; Mohammed Mohamed, 32 from Zuba in Abuja; a notorious ex-convict; Umar Aliyu, 20 years and Nura Abdullahi, 32 years, who is also an ex-convict who used to hide on Kubwa and Zuba hills.
The statement read in part, “The suspects freely confessed to being members of a notorious bandit syndicate with the name ‘Mai One Million’ responsible for a series of kidnapping and other heinous crimes in FCT and its environs.”
During the action, some kidnapped victims were rescued after a shootout which compelled the kidnappers to scamper to safety and abandon their victims.
She also stated that their camps were all decimated.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, lauded the efforts of the security operatives in the fight against criminality in the nation’s capital.
He also reiterated the command’s unflinching commitment to ensuring the security and safety of the residents of FCT.
