Popular Yoruba poet, writer and artiste Alhaji Olanrewaju Adepoju, has died aged 83 years.
His death was confirmed by his son, Adejare Adepoju.
According to him, his father died on Sunday in his home in Ibadan at about 7 p.m.
In a message on his Facebook page, the son of the late poet wrote, “Adejare said: “In memory of my beloved father, Alhaji Chief Olanrewaju Adepoju (Ewi Exponent), a passionate human rights activist, accomplished author, and gifted poet.
“His life’s work was dedicated to making our country a more just and compassionate place. As we grieve, let’s carry forward his torch of advocacy for a brighter future. Rest in power, Dad!”
