Eleven police officers dismissed, nineteen on trial in Imo state

The Imo State Police Command has dismissed eleven officers over allegations of misconduct, while nineteen others are on trial.

Isaac Akinmoyede, Commissioner of Police in the state, revealed this on Osiza FM’s We the People, an interactive radio programme yesterday. He pointed out that he is committed to sanitising the police system in the state, as that was the mandate entrusted upon him when he assumed duty as the Commissioner of Police.

The eleven officers who were dismissed were adjudged to have been involved in activities that were not befitting their rules of engagement, such as extortion at checkpoints.

Akinmoyede stressed that these unprofessional acts would not be tolerated under his administration and encouraged people to speak out against such.
