Commercial activities in the Bauchi metropolis were on Monday disrupted due to a heavy downpour that started from 5.00 am.
The media report that as at the time of filing this report, most shops in the Wunti market remained closed.
Other major areas of economic activities that witnessed low patronage were Banks, Automatic Teller Machines Galleries and supermarkets, among others.
Few residents were, however, seen in public places and major roads, with a negligible number of traders, street hawkers, and commercial motorists.
Some of the traders like Mr. Baba Shehu, a street hawker, “the rainfall was a source of income to others, but it has affected sales.”
Shehu said that he had only sold 10 pieces of raincoats from 8 am to 11 am.
He said, “most buyers were commercial motorists and petty traders.”
Traders in the Muda Lawal market told the media that perishable goods needed to be disposed of under any weather condition.

Mr. Inuwa Habiba said: “I sell perishable goods and they are daily needs, yet the turn out of buyers was very low.
“Normally by this time, I am almost done with my market.”
Mr. Yunusa Maigari, a commercial motorist, also lamented the low patronage from passengers.
