Release Nnamdi Kanu as Christmas gift to S/E, Ohanaeze urges Tinubu

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to release the detained leader of the proscribed group, IPOB.
Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in a statement, said his release would come as a perfect Christmas and New Year gift for southeasterners.
The plea came following a statement by the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, where he blamed the rising insecurity in the eastern parts on Simon Ekpa, was a self-acclaimed leader of the Biafran struggle.
“This act of clemency would not only make the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, work easier, but it would also render Simon Ekpa inconsequential and irrelevant. Furthermore, it would bring an end to the artificial security challenges created in the Southeast by criminals using Nnamdi Kanu as an excuse,” the statement read in part.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo added that the release of Nnamdi Kanu will not only bring solace to the people but also restore confidence in the leadership’s commitment to the welfare and security of the Igbo people.
The group also noted that the people of the Southeast have suffered unjustly at the hands of Fulani herdsmen and criminals who have exploited the Biafra struggle to terrorize the region.
