Residents jubilates as Soldiers return to Check Points in Ondo

As soldiers returned to checkpoints in Ondo State roads to reinforce security and reduce crimes, residents of the state, particularly in the Akoko Division have expressed their joy on the new development.

Residents in the area which linked many border towns to neighboring states and the Northern part that had recorded a number of crimes ranging from kidnapping, raping farmers, vandalization of farm crops leading to farmers/herders clashes were delighted to have the soldiers back on the highways.

The relevant authority had ordered the withdrawal of soldiers from various checkpoints across the state some months.

Already, the soldiers have been sighted at checkpoints, mounting security very close to Oba-Akoko, Ikare, Ajowa, Akunu, and Isua all in Akokoland.

The Regent of Igasi-Akoko, Princess Mojirade Ipinlaye described the step as a welcome development between the state government and the military authority.

She appealed for another check-point at the Igasi-Eriti axis which shares a border with Omuo-Oke and Kogi state.

Ipinlaye said the recent kidnapping of a cassava farmer at Igasi-Akoko which forced many farmers to abandon their farms called for a security presence in addition to local vigilante groups.

Also, an Ise-Akoko community leader, Prince Adekunle Omola the state government for its efforts to secure lives and properties in Ondo state.

Omola specifically hailed Police in Ikare Area Command under the leadership of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)Muri Agboola who led his men to comb the volatile forests in Ajowa, Akunu, Auga, and Ise
He also appreciated Amotekun Corps as they rescued travelers along the Idoani-Ifira Akoko axis recently.

They called on Akoko towns and villages that were yet to constitute their local security outfits to do so as a matter of urgency.
