Dr. D.A George-Kelly has congratulated Honourable O.K. Chinda on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, pledging his full support for Chinda’s election bid and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
In a press statement issued in Port Harcourt, George-Kelly described Chinda’s emergence as a product of unity, political maturity, and a shared commitment to the progress of Rivers State.
The former governorship aspirant disclosed that although he participated in the APC primaries with a strong desire to serve the people of the state, he voluntarily stepped aside in favour of Chinda in the overall interest of the party and Rivers State.
According to him, the decision was taken after careful reflection and consultations aimed at strengthening unity within the APC and consolidating the progressive movement in the state.
George-Kelly commended members and leaders of the Rainbow Coalition for what he called their wisdom and foresight in adopting Chinda as the party’s consensus candidate.
He described Chinda as an experienced politician with a deep understanding of governance and legislative processes, citing his years of service in the House of Representatives as evidence of his preparedness for leadership.
George-Kelly expressed confidence that Chinda possessed the capacity, experience, and grassroots connection needed to deliver effective governance and drive development across Rivers State.
He further pledged to work tirelessly for the success of the APC candidate during the forthcoming governorship election campaign.
The former aspirant also reaffirmed his loyalty to the Rainbow Coalition led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom he praised for providing direction and leadership for the APC in Rivers State.
George-Kelly equally reiterated his support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President was yielding positive results across the country.
He called on APC members, supporters of the Rainbow Coalition, and residents of Rivers State to unite behind Chinda and work together to secure victory for the party at the polls.
