The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Rivers State Chapter, Ambassador Desmond Akawor has attributed the various awards won by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to pragmatic and purposeful leadership exhibited since assuming office in 2015.
Ambassador Desmond Akawor in a congratulatory message to Governor Wike following the conferment of the SUN MAN OF THE YEAR 2020 AWARD on him noted that the award did not come to him as a surprise as the Governor has demonstrated capacity, ingenuity, brilliance, and excellence in governance and leadership.
Former Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea and Federal Capital Territory Minister noted that the State Chief Executive has not left anyone, including the ever critical media in doubt that he is a man of honour both in words and action.
He said the various people-oriented projects in the different sectors and across different parts of the State, including roads, education, health care, agriculture, Social Welfare, Sports and youths development amongst others, and most importantly the construction of ten flyover bridges in different parts of Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor all attest to his clear passion to transform the State, adding that the Sun Man of the Year Award, coming not long after the Leadership Newspaper award shows that there is something unique in this man which the critical media believe needed to be exposed to the rest of Nigerians; and that is that he possesses the required leadership credentials to move our dear country out of the woods.

“Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa), the proud son of Niger Delta, the Talknado Governor of Nigeria has shown more than capable to lead Nigeria. He has become the rallying point of leadership in Nigeria, setting the pace for other governor colleagues of his to emulate.
Most recently he fought for the control of the Value Added Tax by the State government, an action that many other state governments have begun initiating in their own states. In his action, Governor Wike does not discriminate.
