Amidst political controversies, a faction loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed a legal luminary, Dagogo Israel Iboroma, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as Commissioner-designate.
The screening and confirmation was presided over by the factional Speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo, at the Press Unit of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Monday.
Recall that Hon Victor Oko Jumbo, a factional Speaker loyal to Fubara was elected last week after the governor declared that in the eyes of the law, the Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, are no longer Rivers State lawmakers for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Iboroma was nominated to replace Professor Zaccheus Adangor, who recently resigned as the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice after he rejected his redeployment to the Ministry of Special Duties; Governor’s Office.
Iboroma was given a clean bill of health by the pro-Fubara lawmakers after a brief screening, and he was confirmed as a member of the State Executive Council.
His screening came following the resignation of a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Zaccheaus Adangor.
Fubara is expected to swear Iboroma in and officially assign his portfolio.
