The Trans-Kalabari and Bori – Kono road contracts just approved by the Rivers State government will be financed through an Irreversible Standing Payment Order (ISPO) from the internally generated revenue accruable to the state.
The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Eloka Tasie-Amadi, said each of the two contractors will be paid N1 billion every month until the projects are completed in 14 months’ time.
Tasie-Amadi said the Trans-Kalabari road is about five kilometres long and 9.3 metres wide and would cost N13.6 billion. He said it will connect several communities including Krakrama, Omekwama, Anguama Omekwutera-Ama, Sangama, Miniama, Apama and many other communities.
He said Bori – Kono is 17.1 kilometres long and 24 metres wide with street lights and would cost N14 billion. While the Trans-Kalabari road was awarded to Lubrik Construction Company Limited, the Bori – Kono road was awarded to China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation (CCECC).
