Former CAF and FIFA instructor, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, has expressed dismay over Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) silence on German coach, Gernot Rohr uncomplimentary remarks on the national team in the foreign media.
Onigbinde could not come to terms that Rohr on two different occasions had made uncomplimentary remarks on the Super Eagles saying the former African champions lacked quality players because they are not playing in top clubs in Europe and just recently, he openly declared that the Super Eagles cannot qualify for the semi-final of the forthcoming World Cup in Quarter, yet he had gone free without any query from his employer.
The former Super Eagles manager disclosed that the German coach was only trying to be clever by preparing alibi for his failure so that when it happens nobody will hold him responsible.
“Honestly, I cannot understand Rohr because this is a man who has been on this job for five years now, yet he has not gotten a standing team. For every match he wants to invite all Nigerian players all over the world. Besides, he has the gut to berate his players to cover up for his shortcoming.
“I handled the senior national team for only one year in 1984 and went to the African Nations Cup and played up to the final. And all the players in the team were plying their trade in Nigeria…no single foreign player in the team.

“Besides, I think it is high-time the NFF called Rohr to order on his remarks on the national team. The Super Eagles should be our big brand, but we have a coach that always berate the team all the time before the public, yet the NFF has not done anything to check him. This embarrassment should stop now”, Onigbinde reacted.
