The South East governors on Tuesday said that the sit-at-orders issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) could no longer be sustained.
The governors made this known after a meeting with some traditional rulers in the region.
Recall that IPOB had announced that it would no longer enforce the sit-at-home order, except on days that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu was scheduled to appear in court.
However, the governors said that the exercise, which is still being enforced in some parts of the region, had crippling effects on the social, economic activities of the South East.
Reading their resolution after the meeting, the chairman of the Governors Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi said that all the leaders had agreed to ensure that the sit-at-home was no longer observed across the region.

“The South East condemned the killings in the region and have agreed to join hands with security agencies to stop the killings.
“The meeting condemned the sit-at-home orders, which are mostly issued by our people in the diaspora who do not feel the pains.
“In view of the information that even IPOB had cancelled the sit-at-home, the meeting resolved that governors and all people of the South East do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further sit-at-home in the South East and that people are allowed to freely move about in the zone.”
