Sallah: Army Division’s Chief Imam urges children to obey parents

Col. Isah Sadiq, the Chief Imam of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, has urged children to obey their parents to attract Almighty Allah’s blessings on their future.

Sadiq, who is also the Deputy Director of 82 Division Islamic Affairs, gave the admonition in a sermon during Eid Prayers to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations held at Abakpa Military Cantonment, Enugu, on Tuesday.

According to him, obedience is the debt children owe to their parents, if they want to attract Almighty Allah’s blessings and progress.

“Goodness to one’s parents is a virtue every child must learn and imbibe to be uplifted to greatness by Almighty Allah.

“Children must learn from the obedience and submissiveness of Ismail, the son of Prophet Ibrahim, to his father (Prophet Ibrahim) in the course of the sacrifice as written in the Holy Quran,’’ he said.

The cleric warned soldiers against collecting gratification of any form in the discharge of their duties.

“Our people should depart from all forms of atrocities and sins since there will be judgment following every deed on earth.

“Rather, show love and care to all round you to attract Almighty Allah’s blessings and bounties,’’ he said.

Sadiq, however, urged Muslim Ummahs to share whatever they have for the Sallah with their neighbours, especially “the have nots as well as the less privileged’’ around them.

“As Almighty Allah provided the ram used for sacrifice by Prophet Ibrahim, Muslims must do same in our little way by providing and sharing with our neighbours,’’ he said.

The cleric also prayed for continued Allah’s blessings and guidance on the nation’s leaders.

He begged the Almighty Allah to provide “His heavenly wisdom for our national leaders to continue to pilot the affairs of the country in the path of unity, peace and progress.

“I urge Muslims and Nigerians in general to continue to pray for the Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, and our Division’s General Officer Commanding, Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, for Allah’s guidance and protection’’.
