The Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organization (SAUGCO) on Monday alerted Nigerians of an alleged plot by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Commissioner, (REC) for Anambra State, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji to heighten tension, trigger crisis, instigate violence and derail democratic practice and peaceful co-existence in Anambra State.
It stated that Dr. Orji had deliberately attempted to stand against the lawful conduct and democratic processes as it relates to releasing Certified True Copies (CTC) of INEC materials as demanded for by Senator Andy Uba, in line with the electoral processes.
The SAUGCO in a statement by the Deputy Director, Media and Publicity of SAUGCO, Mr. Ikechukwu Emeka Onyia, and made available to newsmen in Awka the state capital informed Nigerians of the alleged renewed plots by the Anambra State INEC REC, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji to deny the APC Candidate, Senator Andy Uba of the INEC CTC, which he requested for it through a letter dated November 10th, 2021 and filed on November 11th, 2021 for his tribunal matter.
He described the actions of Anambra State REC as shocking, irresponsible, completely unjustified and must not be swept under the carpet.
According to him, “INEC as an entity must rescue itself from the efforts of Dr Nkwachukwu Orji whose focus is to damage the reputation of the INEC as an institution for his selfish interest.”
The Campaign Organization said, “The question has been, why is INEC REC refusing to allow the release of CTC to a candidate in an election after he has applied for same? What is REC trying to cover?
“There have been allegations of how the REC collaborated with the Obiano led Anambra State Government and APGA to manipulate the November 2021 governorship election that produced the APGA candidate as the governor-elect.”
Onyia stated that “Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji’s attempt to sabotage our candidate’s resolve to approach tribunal on Anambra governorship election proves that he is struggling to cover the alleged fraud he supervised if not, there is nowhere in the history of the governorship election in Nigeria that a REC played such dangerous game against the established procedure of the law that is governing our electoral processes like Nkwachukwu Orji is currently doing in the case of Anambra governorship election.”

“In the light of the foregoing, SAUGCO demands that INEC as an institution should intervene within the next 12hours and release CTC to Andy Ubah against REC’s anti-democratic games.”
The SAUGCO, therefore, called on Nigerians to stand in the defence of our democracy by continuing in their demand that the REC, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji not only release CTC to Andy Uba today but face disciplinary action for his attempt in derailing democracy.”
However, the INEC REC in the state, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji when contacted on phone refused to answer calls to his phone.
