Security agencies know hideout of bandits, Gumi alleges

Controversial Kaduna-based Cleric, Ahmad Gumi has revealed that Nigerian security agencies are aware of the hideouts of bandits wreaking havoc in the country.

Gumi made the disclosure in an interview with Nigeria Info FM on Monday, March 18th.

According to him, some personnel of the security agencies accompanied him during negotiations with the bandits.

He said “I don’t think they (security agents) are truthful with you. When I go, I go with them; I don’t go alone.”

He urged the federal government to negotiate with the perpetrators behind the recent abduction of approximately 287 students from Kuriga Government Secondary and LEA Primary Schools in Kaduna State.

He argued that the negotiation with the bandits could lead to a safe return of the children without necessarily involving financial transactions.

According to him, the bandits are marginalized citizens deprived of basic social services like education, infrastructure, and water which led to the rise of their criminal activities.

He, however, urged the government to provide an amnesty program similar to what was implemented in the Niger Delta region, to end insecurity in the Northern part of the country.
