Mr Stephen Ibeh, a Security Analyst, has expressed concern over Tuesday’s attack on the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, by unknown gunmen.
Ibeh, a retired Police Officer, said this in Nsukka on Wednesday in an interview while reacting to the recent attack on NDA in which two personnel were killed and one officer abducted by gunmen.
He said it was difficult for him to believe that gunmen, no matter how armed, could penetrate the military academy without any of them being arrested or killed.

“When I saw that breaking news online first, I overlooked it as one of those fake news because I thought it’s impossible.
“But I was surprised and shocked later, when the story was confirmed by the relevant authorities in NDA that gunmen invaded the academy.
“I agree with NDA authorities that it suspected the internal security architecture of the academy was compromised.

That attack is not possible without the help of an insider,” he said.
The security analyst urged relevant authorities in NDA and in the country to conduct thorough investigations into the incident and ensure that those found guilty are sanctioned.
“Those in the academy who compromised the internal security should be fished out and sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to others who will try such in future.
“The army and other security agencies in the country should go the extra mile to ensure that gunmen who perpetrated this heinous crime are arrested and prosecuted.
“Arresting and prosecuting the culprits will help to redeem the image of the academy that is respected nationally and internationally,” he said.

Ibeh, however, urged the Federal Government to conduct integrity test on security agencies personnel so as to fish out the bad eggs sabotaging government’s efforts to end security challenges in the country.
“What happened in the NDA on Tuesday has once again shown that some persons among our security personnel are romancing with Boko Haram, bandits and unknown gunmen and other criminals,“ he said
