
The police on Tuesday arraigned a 29-year-old man, Kelvin Mibal in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for allegedly stealing two Water Closets (WCs) worth N219,000.
The defendant, who resides in Mabushi, Abuja is charged with theft.
The prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju told the court that the complainant, Queen Zagidom of Elizabeth Foundation, Asokoro, Abuja reported the matter at the Asokoro Police Station on May 29.
He said that the complainant alleged that the defendant who was posted as a security guard by “Rapid Security Guard” to the foundation, dishonestly stole two WCs worth N219,000.
He added that during a police investigation, the defendant confessed to the crime and also disclosed that he sold the stolen items to a scavenger.
The offense, he said is contrary to and punishable under the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 and one surety in like sum.
Maiwada adjourned the case until July 12 for hearing
