Security issue collective responsibility of everybody – Group

The Chairman, The Bells University Parents’ Forum (BUPF), Mr Rotimi Dosunmu, Ota, Ogun, has called on the Federal Government to exercise political will to prosecute and punish criminals caught by law enforcement agencies.

Dosunmu made the appeal in an interview on Sunday in Ota, Ogun.

He noted that such decisive action would help to curb incessant cases of security challenges in the country.

He noted that testing criminals with kudos gloves was emboldening and encouraging criminals.

Dosunmu said that nobody should be above the law, adding that once a criminal is caught in the act of committing an offence, it is certain that such person should not go unpunished.

“Security issue is a collective responsibility of everybody. You take charge of your community, while I takes care of my community,” he said.

Dosunmu said that we have seen cases of people who reported criminals at the police station for perpetuating an offence but ended up being detained and punished as suspects, while the criminals walk freely on the streets.

“This development would not help our security challenge if people’s lives are endangered, all in the sake of reporting suspected criminals at police station.s, he said.

The BUPF chairman stressed the need for the federal government to form a robust strategy and collaborate with the people to tackle the menace of insecurity in the country.
