Some yet-to-be-identified security operatives have reportedly assaulted one of the security guards of Omole Estate Phase 1, Lagos.
The incident, which was captured by the Estate’s CCTV camera was made public by a Facebooker, Jagun Oluwaseun, who condemned the behaviour of the officers.
In the video, the five officers, who drove in a JAC pickup truck with Plate Number: AKD 335 GP were seen flogging the private security guard with a horsewhip after he denied them entrance into the estate for not having the necessary clearance.
Posting the video online, Oluwaseun wrote, “Nigeria is increasingly becoming a country where anyone with gun and uniform can oppress others and escape the consequences.
“The men seen in this JAC pickup truck (Plate Number: AKD 335 GP) arrived at Omole Estate Phase 1 gate on the 3rd of April 2025 but were denied access because the estate operates as an automated access control system for residents with express tags only. The private security guard on duty politely directed them to use the estate’s main gate, which is open to all visitors without obstacles.
“Instead of complying, they chose to assault the guard with a horsewhip, as captured in this video. Ultimately, they still turned back and used the main gate since the system wouldn’t grant them entry.”
