Shettima opens Lagos Invest Summit as Nigeria targets ₦4trn investment push

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday declared open the Lagos Invest Summit in Lagos, a major investment forum designed to attract capital inflows into key sectors of Nigeria’s commercial hub, with organisers projecting investment opportunities worth over ₦4 trillion.
The Vice President attended the summit at the Eko Convention Centre on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming the administration’s push to position Nigeria as a competitive destination for global investment through economic reforms and subnational partnerships.
The summit brought together top government officials, private sector leaders, diplomats, and development partners in what organisers described as a strategic platform to translate investment conversations into measurable economic outcomes across infrastructure, energy, technology, finance, and real estate.
According to a statement posted on X by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima arrived at the Eko Convention Centre to a high-level reception led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He was also received by Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, alongside senior federal officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
Key members of the Federal Executive Council in attendance included the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as well as leading figures from the organised private sector.
The Lagos Invest Summit is positioned as a flagship investment engagement platform aimed at strengthening collaboration between federal and state governments while unlocking large-scale private capital into Nigeria’s most economically active state.
Organisers say the summit is structured to deepen investor confidence and accelerate deal-making across priority sectors, with Lagos State serving as a key entry point for capital mobilisation in Africa’s largest economy.
The ₦4 trillion investment target, according to organisers, reflects both existing pipelines and new opportunities expected to emerge from the summit’s engagements, as stakeholders seek to convert policy reforms and investment pitches into binding commitments.
Shettima is expected to use his keynote address to highlight the federal government’s economic reform agenda under the Tinubu administration and reiterate Nigeria’s readiness to engage global investors through more predictable policies, improved business climate reforms, and stronger public-private partnerships.
