God is speaking to you daily, are you listening?

By Dare Oduwole
“For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.” (Job 33:14-17).

As a child growing up with my parents, dreams were not among the prominent features of my childhood. I used to wonder what people meant when they claimed to have had a dream.

The whole idea of seeing pictures in my head while sleeping was difficult for me to process so I discarded any thought of dreaming from my mind. However, over the years, my mother who was never religious suddenly became a devout church member and turned the entire household into faithful church members too. All of these happened in my teens.

Eventually, I joined the choir and began to have a good time developing my spirituality. Our church believed in the Holy Ghost baptism with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Members generally received the Holy Ghost in the course of worship filled with wild clapping and singing.

Interestingly, during a typical service, I got baptized in the Holy Ghost and began speaking in tongues. This event fascinated my mother greatly as she couldn’t speak in tongues no matter what. I was about 16 years old and exhilarated but then something more interesting followed the speaking in tongues, a couple of nights later I experienced my first dream.

It was so vivid and detailed that I told my mother who was equally excited about it. Pronto, she carted me away to narrate my dream to the Pastor who eventually interpreted my dream and confirmed that I was filled with the Holy Ghost. Even without the Pastor’s affirmation, I already associated the dream experience with speaking in tongues. Thank God, however, for a seasoned pastor. From this point onward, dreams continued to feature in my life regularly and I was able to appreciate dreams as a channel by which God passes messages across to Christians.

After years of dreaming, God blessed me with the gift of interpretation and I started by regularly interpreting my dreams. In the process of time, I began to interpret the dreams of others and quickly noticed that dreams are generally a channel through which the guiding or presiding spirit in a man’s life directs him.

For this reason, the symbols presented in a man’s dream could only be interpreted correctly by the gurus of his faith who would be conversant with the spiritual language of their guiding spirit.

Wearing a black dress in a dream would be interpreted differently from faith to faith. Consequently, I can only interpret dreams inspired by the Holy Ghost.

Moreover, it should be noted that Christian dreams often come as a warning of impending danger, as an instruction to follow under certain circumstances, as information that brings enlightenment about a situation, as guidance dreams to make informed decisions, as prophetic dreams to prepare us for the future or dreams to expose events occurring in the realm of the spirits which we wouldn’t normally have access to.

Whatever dimension our dreams take, what is most important is that God is speaking to us directly. Hence on this page, you are welcome to send across any Christian dream you need interpretation to. Feel free to contribute and ask questions about Christian spirituality.
