The Senator representing Cross River Central District in the National Assembly, Eteng Williams, has installed street lights and borehole facilities in 27 communities in the district.
Williams told newsmen in Calabar yesterday that the gesture demonstrated his commitment to improving the people’s well-being.
The Senator said the projects aimed to enhance security and promote economic development within the communities.
“We have provided solar-powered water facilities in nine communities and installed street lights in 18 communities within the district.
“This effort is aimed at providing a foundation for sustainable development and economic growth in these communities,” he said.
He said the projects were spread across the six local government areas in the senatorial district.
Williams said borehole projects were implemented in the Bendeghe-Ekiem, Ediba, Olulumo, Ababene, Ijom, Assiga, Aduma, Mkpani, Afaben, Mkpani, and Boje communities.
He further said that streetlights were installed in Ekori, Ugep, Mkpani, Inyima, Assiga, Nko, Obubra Urban, Oderegha/Ovukwa, Ofumbungha/Yala, and Isobo Otaka.
Isobo Biko-Biko, Wula Ekumpuo, Okwabang, Agba Osokom, Katchuan Irruan, Nsofang, Ajassor, and Adadama are other communities that received street lights.
The Senator said that the solar-powered water facilities would provide clean and safe water for the communities’ residents, while the street lights would boost social activities and keep the towns lively.
“This is in line with my promises; I shall continue to collaborate with relevant federal agencies to attract more projects to our people,” he said.
