Seplat Energy Plc has announced the end of routine gas flaring across all its onshore operations in Nigeria, describing the milestone as a major achievement in the company’s environmental sustainability drive.
The company’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Samson Ezugworie, disclosed this during a media briefing with journalists in Benin City on Sunday.
Ezugworie said the target would be achieved by the end of 2025, making Seplat one of the few operators in Nigeria and globally to eliminate routine gas flaring across its onshore assets.
“I will make bold to say that in our onshore business, covering both our western and eastern assets, we achieved the end of routine flaring in all our onshore operations as of the end of last year,” he said.
He also revealed that Seplat has expanded its investment in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector to boost domestic cooking gas supply and improve affordability for Nigerians.
According to him, the company established an LPG processing plant in Sapele, Delta State, and dispatched the first trucks of LPG cylinders from the facility on April 20, 2026.
“We are committed to contributing to LPG and cooking gas availability in the country. We already have the plant in Sapele, right within our area of operation,” Ezugworie said.
He attributed the company’s achievements to its commitment to integrity, noting that Seplat consistently aligns its actions with its promises.
“One of our key mantras at Seplat is integrity. Our commitment is to ensure there is no gap between what we say and what we do,” he added.
