Lagos State government has donated two patrol vehicles to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state.
The donation was done through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to cushion the effect of damages done to FRSC’s operational vehicles during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.
Soon after assessing the damages in 2020, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to give some assistance to the FRSC as a token of appreciation for its efforts in dispersing traffic gridlocks among other functions.
FRSC Deputy Corps Commander (Lagos Operations), Mr. Cyril Mathew, received the vehicles on behalf of the Sector Commander, Mr. Segun Ogungbemide.
Public Education Officer Lagos Office, Route Commander, Bisi Sonusi, said in a statement issued on Thursday that the patrol vehicles were donated to replace those vandalized during the #EndSARS protest.
He quoted Mathew as saying that: “it will enhance our operations. It shows the state’s commitment to the promise made after #EndSARS protest which claimed some of our patrol vehicles.
“We appreciate the state government for the donation and assure it of judicious use of the vehicles in tackling traffic gridlocks.’’
Engr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, represented Gov. Sanwo-Olu, at the occasion and said the use of the vehicles would go a long way in curbing gridlocks on Lagos roads.

“The vehicles are part of the promises made to the Command during the governor’s assessment visit of the level of damage to operational equipment of security agencies in the state during the #EndSARS protest,’’ he said.
The commissioner added that the provision of additional vehicles would assist the FRSC in saving the lives of the motoring public and increase its visibility in the state at all times.
Bamgbose-Martins also said that the feedback the government was getting on the operations of the FRSC had been positive
