Protests: Adegboruwa to meet with IGP

Solicitors to the Take it Back Movement, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) will be meeting the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on Tuesday to discuss the planned nationwide protest.
The development was made known in a statement addressed to the activist and signed by CP Johnson Adenola, the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP.
The statement, titled, “Re: Notice of public meetings/rallies/processions and request for police coverage, addressed the demands of the lawyer in a letter he wrote to the IGP.
The statement reads partly, “I am to inform you that the Inspector-General of Police has directed the Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (Operations and Intelligence), the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of Zonal Police Headquarters, and the Commissioners of Police in charge of State Commands across the country to attend to your request.
“I am also to inform you that the Inspector-General of Police wishes to have a meeting with you at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja on Tuesday, 30th July, 2024 to deliberate further on your request.”
Adegboruwa had on Friday written to the Inspector-General of Police seeking coverage during the nationwide protest planned by the group from August 1 to 10th.
