Seven-year-old malnourished girl rescued in Osun

The Osun State Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs has rescued a seven-year-old malnourished girl from the home of her aunt in Osogbo.

Commissioner for Information, Barrister Olabukola Olaboopo made the announcement in a statement and said that the girl was receiving treatment.

According to Olaboopo, the rescue was carried out by officials of the ministry and some personnel of the Osun State Police Command.

The commissioner revealed that the girl was found in a very bad shape, abandoned in the backyard of the house in an environment likened to a refuse dump.

“It was discovered that the girl was fed only once a week by her aunt who doubles as her foster parent.

“The girl was found in a weakened state and had become skinny, too weak to stand and with broken bones.

“The state government has taken custody and promised to shelter, educate, feed and take care of the girl’s health,” the commissioner said.
