Six Ondo communities cry out over lack of banking facilities

Six communities of Isua, Epimi, Ipe Ifira, Sosan, and Ipesi in the Akoko South local government area of Ondo state have cried out over the lack of a single commercial bank in the areas.

Residents in the communities are of the view that economic and commercial activities can not thrive in any society without the collaboration of the banking system.

Findings revealed that over 20 years ago the defunct Owena Bank closed shop at Isua-Akoko and since then all efforts to get Banking proved abortive.

The community leaders and opinion moulders in the communities are worried over this ugly development which has negatively affected their economic growth.

LAWMA warns against attacks on personnel

An Ipe Akoko community leader, Femi Kure expressed dismay saying the closest bank to them is Ikare and Oka-Akoko, a distance of over 20 kilometres.

Another respondent, the Asiwaju of Ifira-Akoko, Chief Boboye Ojomo said that the Akoko Southeast local government is well secured as a military checking point in Isua with police and Amotekun daily patrolling the towns.

A monarch, the Olupe of Ipe-Akoko, Oba Francis Apata appealed passionately to the state governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to use his position to facilitate the location of a commercial bank at the local government headquarters, Isua as this will go a long way to boost the economic activities of the communities.
