Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State Wednesday said his administration will continue to work with other Arms of government for development of the state.
This is coming on the heels of a vote of confidence passed by the State House of Assembly on the governor
Sule at a summit of Arms of Government with the theme: “Examining the Roles of the Arms of Government on the Security and Economy of Nasarawa State” held at Government House, Lafia, the state capital said his administration will continue to respect and uphold the principles of separation of powers for the peace, progress and speedy development of the state.
The governor disclosed that the summit was organised to bring together all Arms of Government to interact to broaden their understanding of the policies and focus of his administration aimed at deepening democracy.
He stated that the present administration has created the enabling environment for wealth creation and investment opportunities for the citizens aside from the projects it has completed and still executing in the last one year.
The governor lauded the Legislative Arm for the maturity it exhibited in suspending some officials of the executive arm.
The governor said his administration was not relenting in finding lasting solutions to security challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and herders/ farmers crisis, facing the state.
In this regard he said the government has expanded the security network to some parts of the state to protect the lives of the citizens.
The governor lauded the support of the people of the state, especially the traditional rulers, saying his administration would continue to be transparent, accountable and prudent in managing the state resources.
Meanwhile, members of the state House of Assembly have expressed satisfaction with the leadership style of Governor Abdullahi Sule since his last 16 months in office.
This, the assembly said was based on the good policies, programmes and projects being carried out by the governor aimed at improving the living condition of the people of the state.
The speaker of the House, Balarabe Abdullahi speaking on behalf of his colleagues passed the vote of confidence on the governor while speaking with newsmen Wednesday in Lafia in commemoration of Nigeria at 60 and Nasarawa State at 24.
“The House is passing a vote of confidence on the governor after assessing his administration’s performance so far. It is gladdening to note that the governor has continued with projects initiated by past administrations while also initiating new ones. He has saved the state resources from wastages aside his open door policies of inclusive governance.
He noted that some of the projects he continued included Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet hall, ongoing Lafia airport, Umaru Tanko Almakura Presidential Lodge among others initiated by past governors.
“He is doing well in protecting lives and Property of the people of the state in tackling security challenges as the deployment of soldiers to the state to flush out bandits, kidnappers among others was as a result of proactive steps he has undertaken.
“We are okay with His Excellency performance so far and we will continue to give the executive arm the much needed support and cooperation through passing bills and resolutions that will have a positive impact on the lives of our people,” he said.
The state number three citizen said that Nigeria at 60 and Nasarawa at 24 is a time for reflection on where the nation and the state is coming from, the present status and where the people hope to be in the nearest future, stressing that despite challenges the day is worth celebrating as a nation and a state because the country and the state were not stagnant.
He urged Nasarawa citizens to continue to support President Buhari and Governor Sule and pray for the nation and the state that it may overcome emerging challenges and for sustainable peace as well as speedy development.
