President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable progress in restoring Abuja’s master plan through the prompt execution of infrastructure projects.
Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the commissioning of the Transit Way N2, a major road linking the Central Business District to Wuye District, Tinubu said he had directed the minister to accelerate the delivery of projects across the capital city and that Wike had surpassed expectations.

The President said the new road corridor, which includes two bridges and modern traffic infrastructure, reflects the administration’s determination to restore order to Abuja’s development and improve mobility for residents and businesses.
Tinubu also declared that the Federal Capital Territory Administration had adopted a new approach to contract execution under which projects would be adequately funded, closely monitored and completed rather than abandoned after mobilisation payments.

He described the Transit Way N2 as a strategic economic corridor that would reduce travel time, ease congestion and stimulate commercial activities between the city centre and adjoining districts, adding that the project demonstrates the practical impact of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In his remarks, Wike attributed the pace of infrastructure delivery to Tinubu’s decision to exempt the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account, a move he said had enabled the administration to secure financing from commercial banks using its Internally Generated Revenue as collateral.
The minister praised the contractor, Levant Construction Limited, for completing the project within the agreed timeline despite initial concerns about meeting the deadline.

Earlier, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, said the road was delivered with dual carriageways, pedestrian walkways, drainage systems, solar-powered streetlights and a central median reserved for future rail development.
