Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace, has taken delivery of its first factory-new Embraer E175 aircraft, a move expected to strengthen its domestic and regional operations while boosting fleet capacity and operational efficiency.
The 88-seat aircraft, bearing Nigerian registration mark 5N-CGH, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8:32 p.m. on Tuesday following a ferry flight from Brazil, where it was formally handed over to the airline by aircraft manufacturer, Embraer.
The delivery marks a significant milestone for the carrier as it continues its fleet renewal and expansion programme aimed at supporting growing passenger demand across Nigeria, West Africa and other international destinations.
Configured in an all 2-2 seating arrangement, the aircraft eliminates middle seats, giving every passenger access to either a window or aisle seat.
The jet also features leather seats, generous legroom, spacious overhead bins and larger windows designed to enhance passenger comfort.
Beyond its passenger appeal, the Embraer E175 is recognised for its fuel efficiency, reduced carbon emissions and quieter operations, making it suitable for short and medium-haul routes while supporting sustainable aviation practices.
Speaking on the development, Air Peace spokesman, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, described the arrival of the aircraft as “another bold step” in the airline’s long-term strategy of building one of Africa’s most modern fleets.
According to him, the acquisition reflects the airline’s commitment to investing in modern aviation assets that improve operational efficiency, strengthen route connectivity and enhance customer experience.
“The arrival of our brand-new Embraer E175 represents far more than the addition of another aircraft to our fleet,” he said.
Osifo-Whiskey added that the aircraft is “ideally suited for our domestic and regional operations,” noting that it would provide the flexibility to increase frequencies on existing routes and open up new markets with optimal capacity.
He further stated that the new aircraft would enable the airline to respond to rising passenger demand while contributing to economic growth, tourism and regional integration across Africa.
The latest acquisition further reinforces Air Peace’s position among Africa’s fastest-growing carriers as it continues to expand its footprint across Nigeria, West Africa, Central Africa and other international destinations.
