Sowore under fire over fake videos of Delta crisis

Nigerian pro-democracy activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore, has been under a barrage of fierce attacks for posting fake videos of the ongoing crisis in Delta State.
His action infuriated some Nigerians who have taken to Twitter to troll the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the last election.
Although he apologised for the act, it didn’t stop netizens from going for Sowore’s throat.
On realising that the information put out of false, Sowore deleted the videos that posted that “I deleted my earlier videos that showed a burning village in the Niger Delta region that was purportedly from reprisal attacks against Okuama community by the Nigerian Army @HQNigeriaArmy upon new evidence that this was from an old different incident in Nembe, Bayelsa state. I apologise for the wrong video.”
However, some users of the X platform disregarded his apology.

A X user with name @Kayodespeaks replied, “You failed to do due diligence before you tweeted. Imagine the damage you tweet might have caused on the other side. Nigeria is on the brink and there is need for someone like you to be more responsible with the type of information you ditch out.”
Ogbeni Abbey blasted the presidential candidate that he has lost his relevance due to false news peddling.
He wrote, “Sensational and political journalist isonu. If Nigeria had burned because of that video, na so you go just apologize? You have lost your relevance.”
“A journalist & proprietor of a media house couldn’t fact check content before posting it on the internet, especially video that involves violence & arson.
“Omoyele, you just confirmed people’s view about Sahara Reporters as home for Fake News!” were the words of Temitope Ayanbisi.
Chigozirim Aliyu Emeakayi said, “You should be ashamed of yourself.”
