A Muslim Cleric in Ondo state on Friday said the youth’s inordinate craving for wealth through questionable means has become a serious trend threatening the survival of the country.
The Chief Imam of Arigidi, Akoko Northwest local government Sheik Jimoh Balogun said if the menace is not checked, it may consume the nation.
The Muslim preacher gave the warning during a Jummah service at Arigidi central mosque.
The cleric said he was worried over the involvement of children between 12 and 17 years involvement in money-making rituals and other heinous crimes.
Balogun blamed society for worshipping money without knowing the source and giving undue honors to the rich with doubtful sources of wealth.
He blamed parents for not monitoring their children, urging the government not to fold its arms and allow unemployment of school leavers to degenerate to lawlessness and criminality.

The Chief Imam noted that now that the annual Ramadan fasting is very near,he urged both Muslims and non-Muslims to repent their sins and involve in charitable activities that can be accepted by Almighty Allah.
On the state of the nation, Sheik Balogun condemned in strong terms the ongoing fuel scarcity that has added to the hardship of Nigeria ns.
Nigeria as a major producer of oil, according to him has no excuse to suffer.
He urged President Muhammad Buhari to take proactive measures that would solve the problem while those who brought this mess should not go unpunished.
