Stop issuing frivolous travel advisories, FG warns US, UK

The Federal Government has once again warned the United States of America and the United Kingdom, to desist from issuing frivolous travel advisories in Nigeria.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave this warning during the presentation of President Muhammadu Buhari achievements in in the defence sector, 2015 – 2023, in Abuja.
He said that the travel advisories is only potent in causing panic and chaos.
He recalled that “In October 2022, United States, and United Kingdoms embassies in Nigeria issued travel advisories warning their citizens to avoid Abuja due to risk of terrorist attacks. These advisories created much panic in the country. As a matter of fact, a number of Americans were reported to have fled Abuja in the wake of the warning. Recall also that in our reaction to their advisories, we reassured Nigerians and non Nigerians living in the country of their safety and noted that our security agencies are on top of the matter”.
Alhaji Mohammed observed that almost three months after the frivolous advisories, residents of Abuja have been going about their legitimate businesses without any threat.
“It is in this light that we want to ones again commend our gallant troops, the police, the intelligence agencies and all other security agencies for their commitment and sacrifices to keep our country safe. We also, call on Nigerians to continue to support the security agencies, as they carry out their onerous task, while echoing Mr. President’s call on western countries to stop issuing frivolous travel advisories in Nigeria”.
He reiterated commendation for the Nigeria military and security agencies for their sacrifices in keeping the country safe.
The Minister of Information and Culture said that the ministry decided to launched the score card series last October to showcase the achievements of Buhari administration.
He concluded that as at Monday, February 13, 2023, no fewer than 23 Ministers have already presented their scorecards, aside from the Minister of Defence whose presentation will increase the number to 24.
