The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Surv. Abudulganiyu Adeyemi Adebomehin has tasked State Governors to prioritize surveying and mapping in their respective states, so as to address socioeconomic and environmental challenges.
He also advised the Governors to upgrade offices of State Surveyor Generals to an Extra Ministerial Departments to generate employment opportunities and improve Internally Generates Revenue (IGR), when lands in state are unlocked.
Head, Press and Public Relations, OSGoF, Abu, Michael in a statement said that Surv. Adebomehin gave the advice while fielding questions from newsmen at the council meeting of the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) in Ado Ekiti.

Surv. Adebomehin said surveying and mapping activities are fundamental to every process in planning and implementation of projects and other programmes of action.
He maintained that surveying and geoinformatics provide reliable data for effective decision-making and planning for precision during implementation of projects and programmes.
According to the SGoF, it discourages wastage of capital and human efforts.
