Tacha blasts organizers of Headies awards for holding event abroad

A former Big Brother Naija housemate, Anita Natacha Akide, also known as Tacha, has blasted the organizers of the Headies Music Award for holding the event outside the country.
The event was held on September 3rd, 2023, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
Airing her opinion on the location of the event in a video on Instagram, Tacha disclosed that it was a slave mentality to hold the biggest indigenous music award outside the country.
MURIC accuses media of ignoring deaths of Muslims
She said, ” Guys, is it just me or this is just insane and ridiculous that the most significant award in Nigeria is being held abroad back to back.
What did our colonial masters do to us? What is this slave mentality. How does this make sense?
‘
‘The last time it was being held abroad, it kind of made sense because afrobeat was just getting momentum and our artistes were filling up stadiums, but doing it a year after back to back,, how does this make sense?
‘We are the ones promoting it here in Nigeria. We are the ones voting. Have we forgotten that there was a time when BET awards would not give awards to our artists on the front stage? They were giving them awards backstage. Have we forgotten so soon?
“Even BET won’t hold their awards in Africa, Not Nigeria or SA, so why are you taking such a prestigious indigenous award abroad? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
