Singer Tems wins BET Best International Act award.

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems won the Best International Act at the BET awards which held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, United States on June 26,2022.

The singer becomes the first Nigerian afrobeat female singer to win that category of the award.

Tems was nominated in the awards alongside with; Fally Ipupa (DRC), Dave(UK), Fireboy dml( Nigeria), Dinos (France), Little Simz(UK), Major League Djz(SOUTH AFRICA), Ludmilla(BRAZIL), Tayc(FRANCE).

Giving a speech after receiving the award, she said “BET thank you. Thank you so much.

“I just want to use this opportunity to speak every woman old and young from home, where I am from things like this dont happen.

“Where I am from Lagos ,Nigeria this is a dream come come true and as you are watching me ,I want you to imagine yourself as me ,you are meant to be here too.

“So I am dedicating this to every single young woman, every artiste, everyone that is striving and dares to dream.

“I dare you to wake up and go before your dream  and fight for yourself because you can do it, you can be here. and take this as a sign.

“If you are looking for a sign from GOD take this as that sign. E GO BE.”
