Oyetola attacked during #EndSARS protests
Governor provides medical care for protesters attacked by hoodlums in Osun state

Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, came under attack as he rounded off his speech at the #EndSARS protest in Osogbo, Osun state.
Governor Oyetola had on Saturday joined the otherwise peaceful protest to show his support of the youths’ demands by addressing them.
The otherwise peaceful protest turned violent when some hoodlums attacked the convoy of the governor.
While the governor, who had joined the protesters, was rounding off his speech, some hoodlums wielding dangerous weapons attacked his convoy, damaged many government vehicles and injured many protesters.
The governor was immediately taken away from the scene and the injured taken to a nearby government hospital for medical attention.
Before the attack, Oyetola said that the youths have spoken loud and clear, that the federal government had heard the voices of the youths and would continue to protect their interests.
He apologised to the youths for addressing them late and stating that he was out of town. He also commended them for being ‘omoluabi’s’ which the state was known for by displaying a peaceful manner.
He assured them that he was in support of the protest against police brutality and human rights abuse.
“I want to tender my unreserved apology to the youths for my inability to address you before now. This is simply because I was out of the state.
“The excesses of the SARS personnel are too much and they have to be checkmated. So I agree with you and we understand your plight.”
He dismissed the rumours that he was the one who sponsored the hoodlum’s attack against the protesters, saying that there was no way he could have done such.
