Kunle Akintoye, Abuja

Attracted by an apparent friendly business environment, a LafargeHolcim subsidiary, Lafarge Africa says that it has signed an agreement with the Cross River State government to build a 38km concrete road connecting its local cement plant to the wider network.

Chief executive officer (CEO), Khaled El Dokani, said the project was a major contribution of Lafarge to the state at large with the purpose of making the roads safer for the citizens. The road is intended to divert trucks away from a nearby city centre once it is completed.

Lafarge Africa Plc recently stated its commitment to working with the Cross River government to grow the economy of the state.

The region is fast becoming capital investors’ destination of choice.

It may be recalled that recently, BUA Group, one of Africa’s leading Foods, Mining, & Infrastructure Conglomerates signed an agreement with Axens of France for the supply of process technologies for its upcoming 10 million tonnes per annum mega refinery and petrochemicals facility to be sited in the neighbouring state

This multi-billion-dollar integrated 200,000 bpd refinery and petrochemical plant aims at producing Euro-V fuels and Polypropylene for the domestic and regional market.
