I’ll bounce back stronger and come with vengeance –Usman

Nigerian Nightmare, Kamaru Usman says he will be back stronger and will seek vengeance against Jamaica-born Briton, who defeated him early hours of yesterday to become the new Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion.

Kamaru Usman, who was on the verge of retaining his title, having dominated his opponent in the greater part of the five rounds fight, was flattened to the ground with a striking kick to the neck by Edwards with less than a minute left to the end of the fight.

Usman was winning 3-1 after the fourth round and only needed to avoid a knockout to retain his title and match MMA Greatest of All Time Anderson Silva with six successive title defences.
After the game, Usman tweeted: “Champs f$ck up sometimes… but we bounce back and come with vengeance!!”

Edward became the second British champion in the promotion’s history, following in Michael Bisping’s footsteps, and the finish was as picture perfect as it was dramatic.

Edwards was overcome with emotion on the mic and there’s a strong likelihood that Usman’s body of work will earn him an immediate trilogy rematch.

“I can’t put it into words. They all said I couldn’t do it. Look at me now! It doesn’t matter I was down, I come from the trenches, I’ve been down my whole life, look at me now! I did it for Birmingham, for the kids, for the UK, and for my coaches. I told you I could do it. Beautiful, I told you I’d do it for you mum, I told you I’d change your life. This is my moment, two years out, of the pandemic, now I’m a champion of the world. I was born in Jamaica with nothing,” Edwards said.
