The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has said that this year’s general election will de-emphasise religion, but focus on character, competence, credibility and performance in various spheres of influence.
He lamented that Nigerians have suffered a lot as a result of bad governance, and urged Nigerians to hold him responsible if his administration doesn’t impact positively on their lives and the economy of the nation.
Obi, who stated this during his campaign rally at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, stressed that the sufferings Nigerians are going through under the ALL Progressives Congress (APC)-led government was entirely unacceptable.
The LP presidential candidate further emphasised that his administration would ensure policies that would favour the youth and women in the country.

According to him, “this year’s election would de-emphasise religion, but focus on competence, credibility and performance in various spheres of influence.
He said, “This year’s election is not going to be about religion. Let’s not allow them to divide us again. It is nobody’s turn, but your turn to take back your country.
“I am contesting this election as an Igbo man who is most qualified. People want to be president, but they have not told you who they are.
“I will change this country; hold me responsible. This is a great country, and there’s no reason we are to be suffering. We don’t want those who are stealing our money.
“Anybody that gives your money, take it. It’s your money. Take the money and reject them. I was the governor of Anambra State, and I never owed anybody. I left N75 billion.
“We want you to vote for a human being. We want to take care of mama, papa and pikin. Hold me responsible; let’s build a new Nigeria. This my government will be for the youth and women. Mama papa, pikin.”
