The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has pledged to mobilise support across the country for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, described his appointment as a major responsibility and said the campaign council would work collectively to secure victory for the ruling party.
Speaking after receiving congratulatory messages from supporters, Yari said the celebration over his appointment should not overshadow the task ahead.
“I feel honoured by this trust by Mr President, and by the grace of God, I will do my best to ensure that we cross the bridge,” he said.
He said the real celebration would come only after the APC wins the election.
“Today is for jubilation, but the real jubilation comes in January when we deliver,” Yari said, calling on APC supporters across the country to support the campaign council.
Yari stressed that party unity would be critical to the campaign, urging members and supporters to work towards a common objective.
“At this moment, all of us must come together to do one thing, and that one thing is Bola Tinubu,” he said.
The campaign council director-general, however, said electoral victory would also depend on the party’s ability to fulfil its commitments to Nigerians.
He urged the APC to remain faithful to its manifesto and campaign promises, arguing that voters would judge the party by its record and delivery.
“I expect that whatever we stated during the campaign, we should keep to our manifesto and keep to our promises because elections are not just for today,” he said.
Yari expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure a second term, while also praying that the APC would retain its position as Nigeria’s dominant political party.
“By God’s grace, President Tinubu will remain President in 2027,” he said.
President Tinubu recently approved the composition of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, with Yari appointed as Director-General as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
