President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended for the early presentation of the 2022 budget proposals to the joint session of the National Assembly.
Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, a former Interim National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), gave the commendation in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Tumsah expressed hope that the budget proposals would facilitate economic growth and sustainable development in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari has presented the 2022 Appropriation Bill for an aggregate expenditure of N16.39 trillion to the National Assembly.
Addressing the joint session of the NASS on Thursday in Abuja, the President described the 2022 Appropriation as Budget of Economic Growth and Sustainability.
Tumsah said that early presentation of the budget was a welcome development that could boost economic activities in the country.
He said that the 2022 budget proposals would strengthened national security and promote good governance in the country.
Tumsah, however, advised the National Assembly to ensure that deliberations on the 2022 budget were completed before the end of 2021, so that the Appropriation Act could come into effect by January 2022.
He urged Ministries, Agencies and Department to be available to defend their budget to ensure early passage of the budget.

Accordingly to him, early passage of the budget would make the nation to effectively measure its performance.
Tumsah also urged all stakeholders to continue to cooperate with the Federal Government to ensure that actions were aimed at accelerating the pace of economic growth and development.
According to the APC stalwart, this will enable the government to achieve economic prosperity and deliver its promises to the electorate.
He, however, stressed on the need for the Federal Government to increase investment in the development of critical infrastructure to address deficit.
