INEC ramps up security at Ondo HQ

The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Government Reserved Area (GRA), Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State has beefed up security against today’s election.

Security operatives such as the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and others have been sighted at INEC’s headquarters. Armed patrol vans were also at different strategic locations leading to INECs office.

Aside from security presence, there were also sniffer dogs around the headquarters. To get into the office, visitors had to stop and be searched.

This is precautionary against the volume of registered voters who number over 1 million and who are expected to exercise their franchise and participate in today’s polls at 3,009 polling units across Ondo state.
