The private residence of the Minister of State, FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, was completely razed down by fire yesterday morning.
The fire incident occurred at 7 Roseline Ukeji Close, Mark Okoye Street,Asokoro.
A distress call was made to the Fire Service at 10:40 am.
The fire affected seven bedrooms in the building.
Though the cause of the fire incident had yet to be ascertained, the fire services said it may be an electrical surge and Household items were gutted by the fire.
The fire was brought under control around 2:51 pm with combined team of FEMA, Federal Fire Service, and FCT Fire Service were on the ground during the incident.
Reacting to the fire incident, the acting director of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, said that the first floor of the building was completely razed by the fire.
Adebayo said, “On reaching there, we saw that the first floor, the upper floor was completely engulfed in fire. So what we could do is just to prevent the fire from spreading to the ground floor, and the adjacent structures. No life was lost.”
