The Kano Hisbah Board has said that it is against the tenets of Islam to publicly criticise erring leaders.
One of its Directors, Aliyu Kibiya said this while explaining why the rich are treated differently from the poor when enforcing some of the rules set by the Hisbah board.
The Islamic police had come under criticism for ignoring some of the rich people breaking its rules while arresting the poor for doing the same.
Some of the guests at the wedding of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari and his wife, Zahra Buhari, were recorded singing a sexually explicit song by controversial singer, Naira Marley.
Nigerians had called on Hisbah to apprehend the guests like it would arrest an ordinary citizen with a stylish haircut or ban boutiques from using mannequins.

However, no arrest had been made so far.
Reacting to the criticisms while speaking on Freedom Radio, Kibiya said “Although we call on everybody in the society to do the right thing, we make the call on a case by case basis.
“It is against the tenets of Islam to mount the podium and call out leaders. There are ways to caution a leader without criticizing him in public.”
